Fungi

Fungi

The fungi were traditionally counted among the plants. Today, however, they are considered to be more closely related to animals, but they form a so-called separate kingdom. Fungi can be unicellular (for example, yeast) or multicellular (for example, edible mushrooms). An important feature is that the cell walls of fungal cells are made of chitin. Many of the more than 70,000 species of fungi use living material and thus become pests.
