ESN (European Society of Nematologists) Conference in Ghent
Monday, 10.09.2018 Research & Development
Currently the symposium of the ESN takes place in Ghent (Belgium).
The ESN is the association of european nematologists. (Nematology = scientific discipline that deals with the study of roundworms). ESN’s president is Prof. Dr. Ralf-Udo Ehlers (e-nema GmbH).
Prof. Dr. Ehlers and 3 employees of e-nema GmbH traveled to Ghent: Dr. Temesgen Addis Desta, Dr. Bart Vandenbossche und Dr. Carlos Molinas.
Our scientists give lectures on their research on controlling the western corn rootworm (Diabrotica virgifera) with nematodes. The use of our nematode product dianem® against the corn rootworm is still more expensive than chemical insecticides. Therefore we aimed at a reduction of the application density by improving persistence and virulence of the nematode Heterorhabdits bacteriophora and bringing application costs into the range of synthetic chemicals.
