Clonostachys rosea
Clonostachys rosea syn. Gliocladium catenulatum
Clonostachys rosea is used as an ingredient in biological plant protection products and is a parasitic antagonist of fungi. It is widespread in nature and can be isolated from the soil or the surface of plants.
It penetrates the mycelium of pathogenic fungi and destroys it. At the same time, Clonostachys rosea is able to colonise the rhizosphere of plants. The fungus grows on the surface of roots, thereby preventing the invasion of root pathogens.
At the same time, it induces the production of resistance substances in the plant and promotes growth. This results in healthier and more resistant plants.
The fungus is very well suited for preventive use, is not harmful to bees and has no negative effect on beneficial insects.
Areas of application are:
- Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Phytophtora and Fusarium species as pathogens of seedling and root diseases in ornamental plant and vegetable cultivation
- Botrytis cinerea in fruit vegetables and ornamental plants
- Didymella bryoniae (gummosis) in cucumbers
