APPLICATION OF DIANEM®
The recommended application rate of dianem® is 1 billion nematodes per hectare with 200 litres of water. In order to achieve effective control, it is crucial to get the nematodes as close to the larvae as possible. So far, we have achieved good results with these application methods.
- Application after emergence next to the seed row at a depth of approx. 10 cm as a liquid injection.
- Application of the nematode solutuin onto the seed.

MODE OF ACTION
The entomopathogenic nematodes of the species Heterorhabditis bacteriophora are a naturally occurring antagonist of western corn rootworm larvae. The infective juveniles carry cells of their bacterial symbiont. Applied to the soil, nematodes search for the host insect and invade via natural openings. Once inside, they release the symbiotic bacteria, which multiply and cause the death of the grubs within a few days after invasion. While feeding on the bacteria the nematodes reproduce. After two weeks, thousands of new generation nematodes emerge and search for further prey. This creates a lasting effect of the nematodes in the soil.

EFFICACY OF DIANEM®
Results of 15 years field-testing in Hungary (CABI) and Austria (AGES) in plants infested with Diabrotica eggs have demonstrated that the effect of dianem® is as good as or better than results obtained with chemical insecticides. In most trials dianem® was superior in the reduction of adult beetle emergence. This shows that the repeated use of dianem® provides sustainable management and long-term reduction of Diabrotica populations in corn cultivation.
dianem® is compatible with most chemical plant protection compounds, fertilizers and other beneficial insects. More information about the compatibility of nematodes can be found here:
