NEMATODES AGAINST COLORADO POTATOE BEETLE
solanem® contains beneficial nematodes of the genus Steinernema and controls the larval stages of colorado potatoe beetles (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) in potatoe cultivation.

APPLICATION OF SOLANEM®
Mix 2.5 billion entomopathogenic nematodes per hectare of application area in approx. 10 litres of water. Pour the nematode-water solution into the field sprayer and fill with 500-800 litres of water.
Remove all filters and sieves and use nozzles with a diameter of at least 0.8 mm. Ensure that the spray mixture is constantly circulated so that the nematodes do not settle.
To ensure that the beneficial nematodes adhere sufficiently to the leaf surface, we recommend adding a wetting agent.
As nematodes dry out quickly and are sensitive to UV light, they should be applied in humid weather conditions and/or in the evening. For optimum control results , the treatment should be repeated after two weeks.
MODE OF ACTION
solanem® can be used against the pupae and larvae of Colorado beetles, but are most effective against larvae in developmental stages L1-L3.
The nematodes find the larvae and invade through natural openings into the body cavity, where they release their symbiotic bacteria. The bacteria multiply and kill the insect within 1-2 days. The nematodes feed on the bacteria and propagate. About 1,000 nematodes of the next generation emerge two weeks after application from one host insect. solanem® is absolutely safe for beneficial insects, plants and humans. Any development of resistances against nematodes has not been recorded.
The larvae of colorado potatoe beetle can cause severe damages.

To achieve the best results, the nematodes should be applied when the sky is overcast and the weather is damp, as otherwise they will dry out quickly.
solanem® is compatible with most chemical plant protection compounds, fertilizers and other beneficial insects.
