Heterohabditis bacteriophora
Hb nematodes are microscopic, indigenous, naturally occurring nematodes of the species Heterorhabditis bacteriophora (Hb).
They are insect pathogens (pathogen=disease-causing), specializing in certain pests, and are used as beneficial insects in biological pest management.
Against which pests can Hb nematodes be used?
- Black vine weevil larvae (Otiorhynchus spp.)
- grubs of garden chafer, June beetle, welsh chafer, cockchafer, Japanese beetle
- Corn rootworm
