Biocontrol of Black Vine Weevil even in cool temperatures

The Black Vine Weevil can be found in almost every private home garden and also in professional cultivation such as tree nurseries and soft fruit. Its larvae live in the soil and can cause considerable damage by feeding on the roots. Controlling the larvae with nematodes of the species Heterorhabditis bacteriophora is very effective, but is limited as soon as temperatures fall below 12 °C.

Our product nemamax® contains nematodes of the species Heterorhabditis downsei, which you can use to control the larvae of the Black Vine Weevil even at cool soil temperatures. The application time for nemamax® is as soon as the soil temperature is above 8 °C for at least 6 hours a day; the larvae of the weevil are already active at these temperatures in spring.

nemamax® is effective against larvae and pupae of various weevils (Otiorhynchus sulcatus, O. armadillo, O. dieckmanni, O. rugosostriatus, O. salicicola, O. smierczkii, O. ovatus) in private gardens, tree nurseries, soft fruit orchards and in forests also against the larvae of the pine weevil (Hylobius abietis).
